Class of 2019

Hometown: Mahopac, NY, 10541, NY

Major: Accounting

Minor: Finance

I felt that I have Moved The World by...

going one step further into the work world. I am only a sophomore and with the help from Gaellinks and the Gerri Ripp Career Center on campus, I got my first internship with Habitat for Humanity of Westchester and I absolutely loved it! I now have another internship with the help of Gaellinks and it is with Battiato and Associates and is within my field of accounting. The ease of getting not only involved on campus, but perusing an interest within your field is so easy with the help of people at Iona College.

What has been your most memorable experience at Iona?

I have been here for over a year and a half now and I cannot choose an answer to my "most memorable experience at Iona". There is just so many to choose from! But I would say that anytime spent with friends was a blast between all the laughter, confusion, crying and real life talks, I found the friends that will always stick by me and that I will have forever. A specific memory though is going back to the first day of college, I remember move in day like it was yesterday. I was so nervous to be leaving home and not seeing my mom everyday that I forgot about living with five other girls. I was crying all day long and did not want my family to leave, but I knew that the time had came. So when everyone got settled into our "new home" and all our parents left, my whole suite bonded over pizza and a board game. From that moment on I felt more at ease with the concept of being away at college because I found a few people that I really liked and clicked with. I am still friends with most of them today and have since gotten to know so many other wonderful people at Iona College.

What is your favorite place on campus?

My favorite place is by far the library. This is what grabbed my attention when first walking onto Ionas campus. That is where I spend most of my time because it is college after all and grades count more than ever!

I chose to attend Iona College because...

of the small size and the ability for the professors to get to know the students. Being a student on a smaller campus you begin to easily know where everything is and get to see familiar faces all the time. This is where the sense of community feel becomes a huge factor within Iona College. Everyone I have met at Iona went above and beyond to help me with anything from homework to getting involved.
