as soon as I walked on campus that first summer day, I knew that the community was welcoming me in with open arms. At Iona, there is so much encouragement, inspiration, and involvement that everywhere you go there is a friendly face genuinely happy to see you. Everything that you put into Iona is what you will get out of it- all great things.
My favorite place on campus is our library's Harry Potter room! It is such a calming environment where I go whenever I need to get some work done, but also if I want to take time to reflect on the day. It is also a place where I know I will always see amazing people too.
having the opportunity to lead my own service project as a Campus Minister. With the Wellspring Water Project, Iona volunteers and I redeem thousands of bottles every month in order to raise money for the building of wells in Africa. Even though, we aren't directly helping so many children and their families, we are making a world of difference one bottle at a time.
My most memorable experience was having the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Zambia, Africa. Being an education major, I was given the incredible opportunity to teach English and Math to elementary students. This trip allowed me to immerse myself in the beautiful Zambian culture, while also doing something that I am so passionate about, teaching.
